The philosophy behind kinesiology is that human beings (much like everything else in nature) are created as perfect, interconnected systems. We are designed to live in homeostasis – a perfect balance of mind, body, emotions and spirit – fully equipped for the things we want to achieve in life.

However, sometimes we find ourselves in distress, whether it be mentally, physically or emotionally. This is our body’s way of indicating that we are “off track”, not living to our full potential, or not coping in one or more areas of our life.

Kinesiology offers a very powerful means to re-balance ourselves – physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically – by allowing us to go all the way back and start by correcting the underlying cause or issues that have resulted in dis-ease, rather than simply treating or suppressing the symptoms.

Kinesiology as we know it today was originally developed by the American chiropractor Dr George Goodheart in the 1960’s to enhance and improve the quality of his treatments. Since then it has evolved into many different branches, all based on the scientific, neurological workings of the body.

Everything we need for survival, with the exception of food, air and water, is found within the body itself.

The human body is self-regulating and self-healing. This means that in order to survive, our body must maintain balance by constantly monitoring the internal and external environment via the nervous system, and making appropriate adjustments.

Signals are sent between the muscle and brain via the neural pathways, and the cerebellum in the brain responds by initiating the appropriate physical adaptations. Muscle testing taps into this adaptive system, giving the practitioner information to facilitate changes within your own healing process.

A specialised kinesiologist works with physical movement as well as the mental, emotional, physical or energetic systems of a person.

The kinesiology practitioner has a broad base of training and can work in many different ways, drawing in techniques from many different, non-invasive modalities, such as Chinese medicine and the five elements, acupressure, reflexology, chakra work, reiki, sound balances, colour balances, craniosacral work, homeopathic information, neuro-organisational technique, body polarity, pulse points, crystals, essences, eye modes and even conventional adjustments from physiotherapy.

Whatever you need in order to treat yourself holistically and put your whole system on the path to perfect balance.

A suitably qualified and trained facilitator can identify, specific to you, what has caused an imbalance then apply the appropriate techniques to restore balance and harmony.

Kinesiology does not work in an allopathic way, in that it doesn’t seek simply to alleviate symptoms. True health is not just absence of disease – it is consistent energy, mental clarity, resistance to stress, freedom from infection, emotional stability, good physical stamina, as well as the absence of disease.

REMEMBER – the symptom is NOT the problem. Symptoms are merely “messengers”, the body communicating that there are imbalances present.

Clients have had the following results:

  • More energy
  • Greater understanding of self and others
  • Choices where none seemed to exist before
  • Found solutions where none existed before
  • More appropriate and increased functioning ability in all areas of life
  • Improved quality of life
  • More appropriate reactions in stressful environments
  • Improved coping ability
  • Empowering of self
  • Integration of facets of self
  • Reduction of symptoms as the body comes into balance and is better able to heal itself

Kinesiology is not a diagnostic tool or a miracle cure.  It simply detects where the stressors are in the body and then we correct the stressors accordingly and the allow the body into a stronger and better position to heal itself. We do not diagnose or “treat”.  Any diagnosis will need to be done by your local General Practitioner or Specialist.

No.  It is a gentle soft touch procedure of putting slight pressure on a muscle to see how it responds.

  • You will always be fully clothed
  • Light touch muscle testing will be carried out.  This is done predominantly using the arm if facing upwards, or the lower leg if facing downwards.  However where relevant other muscles are tested from a point of contraction to extension.  For this reason, it is recommended that clients are wearing pants, or have shorts or leggings on if wearing a skirt of dress.
  • Light touch balancing techniques are carried out on the body

No.  Apart from the foundations of muscle testing, each Kinesiologist specialises in the sub modalities that they personally choose.

It is important to learn more about the practitioners you are considering, and to follow your own intuition of which one will best serve you in your current space and time.

Everyone, from babies in utero, newborn, through to the elderly.

We don’t treat symptoms.  The symptom is not the cause of dis-ease. We acknowledge the symptoms as messengers that something(s) is out of balance.  No matter what the symptom, through the biofeedback mechanism of muscle testing, we can test where there are imbalances, and apply the better neurological options that test out, to help facilitate your body to heal itself.

The following may be messengers that you are experiencing:

  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Depression
  • Learning Difficulties
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Neck / Back pain
  • Insomnia
  • Low / High Blood Sugar
  • Sinusitis / Allergic Reactions
  • Fatigue Syndromes
  • Recurrent infections / illness
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Low self esteem
  • Phobias / addictions
  • Skin problems
  • Digestive disorders
  • Menstrual problems
  • Constipation
  • and more …

If the baby is in utero, or newborn, we use the mother as a surrogate to check what is stressing the baby.

This is difficult to answer, as everyone is different, presents with different symptomatic messengers, and have varying degrees of healing.  Often, even after the first session, most people remark on how much calmer they feel, and sleep better.  Physical symptoms are most often significantly better after 3 sessions.

Depending on the condition or number of conditions, this can vary.  People report improvements mentally and physically (i.e. level of pain, discomfort, acute or chronic unwellness) within 1-3 sessions.

After the initial number of treatments (which may vary from 3-6), we find the key to maintaining the improvements in your health is to follow a maintenance treatment programme (visits every 2-6 months).  This way any new or current problems which may surface can be addressed. Good nutrition, exercise, sleep, open communication and positive intentions are also important in getting well and staying well.

I establish criteria for remediation of imbalances in your energy system.

I use the practice of muscle reflex monitoring.

Muscle testing challenges your energy system for acceptance or non-acceptance of the challenges I give it, either through touch location of specific reference points on the body, or verbal challenges.

I will muscle test each time to get an energetic response to:

  • the willingness to participate
  • the priority focus point for you at that specific moment in time
  • the intention to work gently and within priority only
  • the primary neurological circuits in relationship to the priority focus, testing through key areas of the Universal Healing Model –  mental, emotional physical, meridians and the extended model as relevant
  • the appropriate balancing protocols to be applied to bring about balance
  • the establishment of recuperation ability
  • the application of post-checks to establish willingness to accept changes
  • the engagement of the entire natural health knowledge base for reference purposes

Disclaimer

  • I do not diagnose, treat or suggest that you go off any prescribed medication – I acknowledge the symptom and work towards solutions
  • I do not work with illness, as that would be treating the symptom – I believe that we can assist in improving your quality of life and so “re-educate” your body and enable it to heal itself
  • I do not interfere with your faith or religious beliefs – I am trained to work within the realm of your belief system to best assist you to find solutions
